CATC IBTracer
COMPUTER ACCESS TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
esigned for developers, CATC IBTracer™ is
an InfiniBand™ protocol analyzer system. The CATC
IBTracer hardware taps transparently into the fabric to
capture and display InfiniBand traffic for analysis.
Developers use IBTracer Software running on a PC to
define recording, triggering and filtering conditions and
to view, analyze and print the trace. By leveraging years
of experience in protocol analysis tools for emerging
markets, CATC’s IBTracer blends sophisticated
functionality with practical features to speed the
development of InfiniBand silicon, systems and
solutions.

PPLICATIONS
The CATC IBTracer system provides fast, efficient
and accurate debug, test and verification of
Infiniband semiconductors, devices, systems and
software. IBTracer taps into standard copper 1x
Infiniband links to record Infiniband traffic on
the link. You use software running on a PC to
control the IBTracer hardware and upload the trace
it records and, most importantly, to analyze how
your Infiniband components work together, diag-
nose problems, and ensure interoperability and
standards compliance. IBTracer offers many inno-
vative features to dramatically reduce
time-to-market for your Infiniband solutions.
Developers use IBTracer’s easy software tools to
define sophisticated event conditions to trigger
recording of trace data. For integration with your test environment, you
can trigger recording of trace data by external devices such as logic ana-
lyzers. Recorded trace data is uploaded from the IBTracer Analyzer to a
PC and displayed using the de facto standard CATC Trace graphical user
interface as color-coded packets. Using its powerful analysis functional-
ity, developers can easily search for specific data, errors or other
conditions and quickly pinpoint areas of interest.
No matter what layer of the protocol interests you, the CATC Trace
makes it easy to find what you are looking for. Infiniband trace data can
be viewed at the packet or at the operations level or as decodes of
Management Datagrams (MADs). At the MAD level, IBTracer features
CATC Decode Scripting Files, allowing developers to define custom
views and interpretation of each element of the MAD. For deeper analy-
sis, you can display packet contents as raw 10-bit codes.

Software
•Industry-standard CATC Trace user interface
•Turns an unintelligible stream of bits into color-coded, clearly
labeled protocol elements
•Allows developers to focus more of their time on analysis than
deciphering
•
Collapsible / expandable headers with tool-tip explanations make
it easy to navigate and interpret packet contents, headers and
commands
•
View packets, operations or MADs in classic CATC Trace format or
in raw 10b code for deeper analysis
•Freely distributable IBTracer Software enables collaborative analysis
across sites and time-zones
•Sophisticated trigger condition setup is made simple with drag and
drop tools to link events to trigger or filter actions
